In the middle of a very changing and uncertain world we need hooks to hang on throughout our days…something sure and certain. The Lord offers Himself. He says, “I can be your structure. I can be your rhythm. I am unchanging.”  We are quick to orient our time to school or work, sports for our kiddos, or even our pet schedules. All beautiful things! Yet, could we consider orienting our time around the Lord Himself? Would it become legalistic? Would we feel oppressed by set prayer times?

Instead of oppression, it is a delightful invitation that we receive. It is like an invite from a friend that you would never turn down. It is Mercy and Compassion seeking us in our grief, ache, and longing. It is our Rock and Fortress, acknowledging how shaky and undependable the world seems. Our Lord says, “Come. I made you. I love you. Build your days around me.”

There is nothing magical about set prayers times. It just gives us the opportunity to be intentional both in seeking our Lord and seeking Him together. Would you consider a set rhythm for your days during Advent, where we center together around He who has come, will come again, and brings the only hope for our shifting and uncertain world?

Please join us in prayer at 7:00 am and 7:00 pm, Monday – Saturday (beginning November 30th) in one or more of the following ways:

  • Pause (you can set a gentle reminder on your phone) at those times for one minute to enjoy the Lord and pray the following: “Lord, thank you for coming into our world. We wait, long, and are grateful that you are coming again. Amen”
  • Sign up below to receive the daily prayer emails and podcast during Advent and join with us by either reading or playing the podcast alongside others at those times.
  • Join us in person at the Missions House at 7:00 am and 7:00 pm each day.
